Out of the Loops

Sustainable slow fashion & wearable art hand-crafted one stitch at a time by the artist behind Fleece & Thank Ewe Fiber Worx.

Carrie Kathryn (CK) is a self-taught clothing designer and multi-disciplinary fiber artist, who started the hand-dyed and hand-spun art yarn company, Fleece & Thank Ewe Fiber Worx. Her brand, Out of the Loops, focuses on creating handmade sustainable slow fashion and wearable art through knitting and crochet. With a passion for sustainability, CK focuses on her materials. She recycles thrifted yarn for garments to avoid textile waste, sources fiber to spin yarns from local small farms, and dyes and spins her own handmade art yarn instead of buying commercial yarn made out of plastic. Being named after her great-grandmother who crocheted, CK is inspired by the many generations of women in her family who crocheted, knit, and sewed for their families out of need. CK constructs original handmade pieces stitch by stitch to showcase ancient women’s crafts like prepping fiber, dyeing fiber, spinning yarn, knitting, and crochet. In a world of capitalism and consumerism, keeping these ancient arts alive is an act of rebellion. CK is delighted to challenge the ideas of how clothes are made, who makes them, and where our clothes come from.
